Casual to Chic with Sarah Flint’s Yorkshire Floral Scarf
With the recent temperature drops, I’ve been experimenting a bit with more casual wear (ie. not involving dresses or skirts). I fully understand that this may sound odd, but it’s very infrequent for me to dress in (long) pants — even during the winter months. There’s just something about pants in general that feels restricting to me, so I personally lean towards dresses or skirts as a default. As a consequence, I’m consistently chilly (even with warm hosiery) or looking randomly over-dressed in casual scenarios.
I’ve been attempting to branch out and find some core pieces that I can select for these situations: nature-based photo/video sessions or activities where skirts/dresses aren’t exactly the most practical choice.
With this outfit, I challenged myself to “dress up” a more casual-style outfit (a black mock-turtleneck top and pre-loved jeans). I am a lover of scarves and have been since discovering some beautiful handmade silk accessories while shopping in Japan (Spring 2018). I suppose they remind me of the formality surrounding flowy dresses and skirts? I also love how versatile they are. One can wear them around the neck in various arrangements, as a belt/sash, or as a head accessory.
I chose to pair the casual black top and jeans with a beautifully designed floral scarf that I found at the Sarah Flint NYC Pop-Up Shop. I tucked in the top and added my favorite thin black belt from YSL — along with some pre-loved gold earrings from Oscar de la Renta. From there, I added a wool coat to drape over my shoulders, my favorite pair of suede boots, and a statement bag from Versace.

I’m trying to get into a habit of exploring more during our every day. We drove over to see some family for the holidays and, while there, I needed to run an errand by the local post office. I’m not certain what this building is or used to be, but it was just down the street from the post office and caught my eye for some quick location and OOTD (“Outfit of the Day”) snaps.
